Setting up of India Corner at the Parliament of Trinidad & Tobago
The High Commission of India set up an India Corner at the Library of the Parliament of Trinidad & Tobago at the historic Red House in Port of Spain on November 13, 2025. The India Corner was formally launched by Hon’ble Jagdeo Singh, Speaker of the House of Representatives and H.E. Dr. Pradeep Rajpurohit, High Commissioner.
The India Corner includes a diverse range of books (351) on Indian polity, diplomacy, economy, history, culture and various art forms. It is expected to evolve as a one-stop destination for the Parliamentarians and Parliamentary Staff to know and explore more about India.
On this occasion, Speaker Mr Jagdeo Singh described the India Corner as a reaffirmation of the long and historic ties and a tangible symbol of knowledge exchange between India and T&T. He added that this generous contribution by the Government of India is a testament of cultural understanding and mutual respect. High Commissioner Dr Rajpurohit expressed gratitude to the Speaker and the Officials of the Parliament for this opportunity and assured to nurture the India Corner with more books and literary material in the times to come.
India and Trinidad & Tobago have a long history of people-to-people ties, including collaboration between the two Parliaments over the years. This collection of books is an effort towards knowledge sharing, building cultural links and lasting partnership between the two democracies which would help in building greater understanding of India in T&T.
