Namaskar, Jai Sita ram, Jai Shri Krishna

We are indeed delighted to have presence of all this august audience, esteemed digintaries and pundits this evening on this pious occasion of Gita Mahotsav. I wish to sincerely thank all those involved in organization of this event

Since 2016, the International Gita Mahotsav has been celebrated on a grand scale. Every year, the number of devotees coming from abroad and abroad is increasing.

cClebrating the day the Bhagavad Gita was revealed by Lord Krishna to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra. Celebrated annually on the Ekadashi (eleventh lunar day) of the bright fortnight in the Hindu month of Margashirsha (usually November or December), it promotes the Gita's teachings of duty, righteousness, and knowledge.

"I am Time, the great destroyer of the worlds, and I have come here to destroy all people. Except for you [the Pandavas], all the soldiers here on both sides will be slain."

The 10th International Gita Mahotsav is beginning in Kurukshetra from November 15 and will continue till December 5. This 21-day festival will present an extraordinary blend of culture, knowledge and spirituality. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be attending the Gita Mahotsav.

On Nov 24, the Mahotsav will be formally inaugurated with Gita Yajna at Brahma Sarovar. A three-day International Gita Seminar will begin at Kurukshetra University. Through online mode, Gita scholars and researchers from India and abroad will present their research papers.

Grand Gita Maha Aarti will be performed daily at the sacred banks of Brahma Sarovar. Cultural events will be organized at the various pilgrimage sites of the 48 Kos Kurukshetra region.

On December 1, Deepotsav celebrations will be held at all 182 pilgrimage sites in Kurukshetra. A Geeta Shobha Yatra will also be taken out, with participation from various religious, social and voluntary organizations.

When Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji visited Trinidad & Tobago in July this year, both sides agreed that Geeta Mahotsav will be organized in T&T in a befitting manner with active participation of the govt of T&T. This was reflected in the Joint Statement issued after the visit. Accordingly, we are glad to have participation of the Speaker of the Parliament and Minister of Tertiary Education & Skills Training today.

Our Geeta Mahotsav event of this evening is kind of a precursor event for the Gita Mahotsav in Bharat.  Similar celebrations have been organized all over the world.

Excellencies, Revered Pundits!

Shrimad Bhagavad Gita is Bharat’s most inspiring gift to the world. It is the wealth of the whole world which has been relevant for thousands of years. From world leaders to the common man, the Gita has shown the path of righteousness to the humanity.

While Bhagavad Gita is a spiritual text, it is also a life book. We may belong to any country, or follow any religion, but all of us are surrounded by problems on a daily basis.  Whenever we stand on the crossroads of life like Arjuna, Srimad Bhagavad Gita shows us a solution to these problems through service and dedication.

You may be student in a state of indecision, the head of a country, or a yogi looking for liberation, you will find the answer to your every question in Srimad Bhagavad Gita. We believe that Geeta is the greatest manual for human life.

Many eminent figures of the world were touched by the divinity of Srimad Bhagavad Gita.  For people in every field of knowledge, this immortal dialogue on the battlefield of Kurukshetra has been an inspiration.

Famous German philosopher Schopenhauer wrote that there is no study in the whole world more beneficial than the study of the Gita and Upanishads, which made his life peaceful and gave him assurance of eternal peace upon death.

Brothers and Sisters, when Bhagwan says why do you worry, whom are you afraid of, who can kill you, what will you take away and what did you bring, it automatically gives immense inspiration to dedicate life in the service of the people and the nation.

To introduce this ancient knowledge and purity from India, great efforts have been made by many great people over generations.

Another announcement made by Prime Minister Modi Ji during the visit was training of Pundits from T&T in India. Accordingly, 10 pundits from across social and spiritual organizations have been selected and they are currently undergoing a one month long online training through a curiculum prepared by the Banaras Hindu University in Kashi.  They are here with us today. They will be trained with 10 Pundits from Fiji, another diaspora country.

These Pundits would be travelling to Bharat by the end of the month and would begin their Pravas with attending the Gita Mahotsav at Kurukshetra. Thereafter, they will be proceeding to BHU for a month long physical training. On return to T&T, they will have another month long training.

I thank you all for taking time this evening. Best wishes on the occasion of Geeta Mahotsav!

Jai Shri Krishna!
