H.E. Arun Kumar Sahu

High Commissioner (designate) of India to Trinidad and Tobago

Arun Sahu joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1996. At present he is the Deputy High Commissioner of India to Canada based in Ottawa. Earlier, In New Delhi he has served as Joint Secretary (Director General) heading the division of Development Partnership Administration, Deputy Director General, Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Director (North-Nepal and Bhutan) and Under Secretary (China).

As a diplomat, he has served in Indian Embassy in Beijing twice (1998-2001 and 2010-2013), London (2004-2007) and Tehran (2007-2010).

He served as a Board Member on the US-India Educational Foundation from 2014 to 2016 and on the Canada-India Centre for Excellence in Science, Technology Trade and Policy at Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada from 2016 to 2019.

He holds a Master’s degree in War in Modern World (WiMW) from King’s College London and a Master’s degree in Linguistics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

He speaks Odia, English, Hindi, Chinese and writes essays, fictions and columns in both Odia and English in his spare time. Two of his celebrated short story collections in Odia are Akashara Luha (Tears of the Sky), 2015 and Chira Malata (The torn Cover), 2017.

He is married to Sasmita Mishra Sahu, who is a professional painter and an art historian and they have a daughter and a son.
