Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) 2023

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) is celebrated on January 9, the day when Mahatma Gandhi had returned to India. Pravasi Bharatiya Divas aims at strengthening the engagement of the Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) and the overseas Indian community with the Government of India and reconnecting them with their roots. Beginning January 9, 2003, 16 editions of PBD have been celebrated. Since 2015, PBD is being celebrated once in every two years.
The 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) will take place from January 8-10, 2023 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India. The theme for PBD 2023 is “Diaspora: Reliable Partners for India’s Progress in the Amrit Kaal”. Amrit Kaal is India’s 25-year journey till 2047, which will mark 100 years of India’s independence. This PBD is being held in the physical format after a gap of four years, wherein the world has seen unprecedented challenges in terms of health issues as well as economic slowdown. Now the world is resuming all economic activities, including travel and business. We find much interest and enthusiasm in India in participation by people across board. Therefore, we hope that our Diaspora members would be keen to travel to India in the coming months.
During PBD, the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award is also conferred on a Non-Resident Indian, Person of Indian Origin (PIO), or an organisation or institution established and run by them. The award is to commemorate the contribution of Indian diaspora to create a better understanding of India abroad, support India's causes and work for the welfare of the local Indian community. Selected eminent Indian diaspora members are awarded the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards in the presence of Hon'ble President of India.
On January 8, Youth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas will be observed. On January 9, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in the presence of the Chief Guest. On January 10, the conferment of the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards and Valedictory Address by the Hon’ble President of India, Mrs. Droupadi Murmu will take place. The Government of Madhya Pradesh is also organising the @InvestMP - Investors Summit 2023 on January 10-11, 2023 immediately after ‘Pravasi Bhartiya Divas 2023’ at Indore. Madhya Pradesh, the growth centre of India, is ready to welcome industry leaders, NRIs and global investors.

The Government of India has extended the discount of 20% on early bird registration by individuals till November 30, 2022. The visa fees have been waived for Persons of Indian Origin applying for Conference Visa to attend PBD 2023 and submitting a proof of registration with payment.
Group Registration by 10 members or more is also possible, with special discounts – 25% for 10-50 and 50% for 51-100 member groups. For Group Registration, Group Coordinator (who is also a member of the group) would Register a group and upload a Group Document. The group document contains Full Name, Email ID, Phone Number, Passport Number etc. of all the members of the group. The concerned Indian Diplomatic Mission now receives a Group Coupon Code and Coordinator’s contact details, and contacts the Group Coordinator. The Indian Mission would then provide a Unique Coupon Code to the Group Coordinator, which should be shared with the relevant group members only. Now, the group members have to register individually by clicking on “Register as an Individual” with that code. Indian Missions will then facilitate the Group Registration. This will enable the group discount. One can get either early bird registration OR group discount.
